Russia V South Korea Fifa World Cup 2014
After match synopsis in red!!
Pregame bets:
Russia first to 5 corners 21/20
Russia 19/20 to win game
Russia 3-1 is 16/1
Just one off the corners! And Russia should have won this. They played like they had lead in their boots. For all that money they give to Capello to produce an apt performance like that, tut tut

Baltika 7 Eksportnoe V Hite Lager: 1-1 Draw. Much like the actual football match I am going with a score draw 1-1. Hite scored on the nice sweet taste and lovely aroma. Baltika also had a lovely sweetish taste but was definitely that little bit stronger as a beer. Both beers were refreshingly easy to drink, and went down well, very well in fact. I enjoyed both beers so no need to pick a winner here, both equally pleasant. Click on here for full beer information and reviews
PreGame:
Russia: I fully expect the team to come out gunning to victory in their first match against Korea. Russian pride has taken a dent on the world stage, so nothing like a comprehensive victory on the field to settle matters.
Capello is in charge, and back again for another world cup adventure. The old maestro has nothing to prove with an illustrious club career, but last time out he was found wanting. A wounded Capello, who wants to prove that he also can do international management, could easily get the Russians in the right frame of mind to cause an upset or two in this world cup.
key player is Yuri Zhirkov, at 30 he needs a good world cup to remind us all what we once saw, that initial skill and vision. A career wasted so far.
South Korea, are back again for another world cup tryout, their eight consecutive campaign. In not the hardest group, they might be feeling positive ahead of their games in Group H.
Group H will be a very closely contested group. I would imagine that Belgium will top it but for Russia, Korea and Algeria second place is all to play for.
If you look at their squad they have few stand out players but it is a squad that has a good bit of European footballing experience. One of those Koreans abroad is Key player is Son Heung Min who has scored a few crackers this season in the Bundesliga. Will he be able to score against what is likely three teams, Belgium, Russia and Algeria, who have very tight defensive makeups.
I have to sit on the fence with this one. Korea could do well and get out of the group, but on the other hand they might bomb and come last. Their first game against the fired up Russian’s is key. Lose that and they are out of the world cup. I can’t see them doing a whole lot in the world cup, but they might surprise as they have progressed past the group stage in two of the last three editions. So beware of the Taeguk Warriors
A more detailed review on Russia here and on South Korea here
Really not a whole lot to write about on this dour soulless game. It was a dull game. Not to Capello though, on speaking to the BBC he thought it “was a good game” , and that his players did well. I wouldn’t want to see when they play bad so.
Russia were clueless. South Korea not much better. At one stage of the match a South Korean player kicked the ball right out of the stadium when trying to shoot for a goal.
Zhirkov was absolutely rubbish. He retired from the game a few years ago, this is just a shell of a footballer you see on the pitch. Disappointing.
Also a little disappointed with Son Heung Min. Okay he had moments, but in such a slow game, I thought he could have picked up the tempo better.
In a must win game both teams have now given the baton for qualification to the Algerians. I would be quietly confident that Algeria might get a result against the Koreans, while Belgium will do a job on the Russians.
Music to get you in the mood
