Lowenbrau V Samuel Adams: 1-1. Score draw. Löwenbräu with its quality assured brew is a lovely smooth beer that is perfect to watch the football with. Full of natural flavours, crisp and clear and fully balanced with its taste going down very very easy. A lovely looking beer as well, nice colour and good head, very alluring. Löwenbräu was really easy to enjoy. A good pure Deutsche lager. Refreshing. But how would it do up against an American craft beer classic, Samuel Adams. SA also looks great, good colour, good frothy head, a nice pour. The look of a real beer. In taste SM had more flavouring going on, hops and malts balanced out, and a hint of caramel standing out, a good aftertaste that is enjoyable. Delicious. The two beers are slightly different, one a good session beer, the other a beer to sit back and take in all the flavours and aromas. I really don’t want to separate them here so I think a score draw is a very fair result for two cracking beers. Click on links below for full beer information and reviews

Superbock V Samuel Adams: 1-1.Score draw. Samuel Adams, an American craft beer classic. Has the look of a great beer, with its nice golden colour, good frothy head, and good lacing. All very enticing. But SuperBock is also a beer that looks pretty good, pouring a crystal clear golden colour with a huge white head on top, which was very frothy. Draw there. Both beers had pleasant but not overbearing smells. Adam’s with a faint smell of malts and a bit of floral hops, while SuperBock was faint and gentle, grains, malts and some light hints of grassy hops. Another draw there. On tasting, Samuel Adam’s strength was definitely its strong variety of flavours all well balanced, and I found a slight hint of Caramel which was very interesting. The finish is strong with a long lasting heavy aftertaste. Overall a nice solid beer and a great delicious taste. SuperBock, had a mildly sweet taste, and also had a nice bitter and sour aftertaste that lingers for a short while. It’s a very easy beer to drink, is relatively strong and goes down well. So I liked both beers and don’t really want to pick a winner here, I think a score draw is fair as they are slightly different, amber lager v pale lager, but both delicious and very easy to drink. Enjoyable game, enjoyable beers. Click on links below for full beer information and reviews

SuperBock V Friedenfelser Pils Leicht: 0-1. Two very contrasting beers. SuperBock was a strong 5.2% Pale Lager while Friedenfelser is a Light Pils of about 2.8%. Liked the look of both beers, and they both had a good aftertaste. I might be a little controversial here and give the decision to Freidnfelser as I was surprised that such a low alcohol beer could be so tasty and enjoyable. I expected SuperBock to be good and relatively strong, but got hit for six with the quality of the light Pils. Late victory to Friedenfelser.
