Spain V Morocco
(Synopsis in red)
Pregame bets:
Now that Morocco have nothing to play for, and the fact that the group’s top two positions will be decided by goals, then I expect Spain to put on a strong performance today. For sure Morocco will want to go out with some pride but that will only get you so far, I expect a lot of goals in this game today.

Spain v Morocco – Over 4.5 Goals 5/1
And I fancy the cunt Ramos to pop up today with a headed goal. He sometimes gets them, even if it ruffles his Alice band.

Unlucky with the goal bet. Anyhow another day tomorrow…………
Beers: Group B of Beer World Cup:
A battle between Casablanca beer from Morocco and Estrella Galicia from Spain.
V
For the first time Casablanca actually didn’t taste too bad today, but smoother and more enjoyable than the other two days. Still hadn’t much in the way of actual taste though. For that reason I will give the win to Estrella Galicia, as I really enjoy this beer cold from the fridge, perfectly smooth, and the malts hitting the spot. Yeah one nil to Spain.
PreGame:
Morocco had Portugal on the ropes in their last game but didn’t have the knock out punch required to get a result in this game. Shocked after an early initial goal by Ronaldo, they were unlucky.
Shame really as they played well enough in the game, and in particular N Amrabat who had Guerreiro in his back pocket all day. Amrabat has played well in the two games, albeit he does tire badly, but he at least can hold his head up high with his performances so far.
And what can we say about Ronnie, what a great header, throws off his defender so easy, and powers Portugal into the lead. It pretty much stunned Morocco and it took them a good while to recover from it.
Morocco had a few chances where they could have scored an equaliser. Benatia was unlucky with a fine header, while Rui Patrício, the Portuguese GLK pulled off an amazing save to deny Belhanda, and then Benatia in the end with another free header that probably he should have did better with. They should have at least got one goal for all their effort, but that’s the marking of a good team, all chances no goal, Portugal one chance, one goal. That’s the difference!
The Iran V Spain game for me was a fascinating duel between the classy Spanish team up against the resolute defending of the Iranians. For a long time I really couldn’t see how the usually patient Spanish build up was going to break down such a solid defensive line. Where was the goal going to come from?
Not only that but at times Iran broke out of their defensive lock to attack Spain as well. Ansarifard had what the whole watching public thought was a goal, close but unfortunately for Iran it was the side netting. Oh so close. Then there was that goal, but so unlucky to be stroked off due to a very close offside, bad luck that VAR is unflappable!
Diego Costa got the lucky goal, scoring off a rebound that hit his knee, don’t think he even knew too much about it. Not much the goalkeeper could do about it.
Was impressed with Silva and Isco, between the two of them they must have ran the equivalent of about two marathons, the amount of space they cover all game is amazing, all over the place, and very pacy, passing and moving.
In my opinion, Spain passed a big test in that game, in how to break down a tough defensive team, and they did it well. As usual they never panic in situations like this and they now move onto play Morocco today, safe in the knowledge that they have one leg already in the last 16.
A more detailed review on Spain here and on Morocco here
Decided to see the first half of this game. A game with a lot of tension. Pique going in with two footed challenges, Amrabat was having a thing with Ramos (my money on Amrabat), and box to box football. Brilliant.
And then a shock, Boutaïb capitalized on a sloppy error by Ramos, was free and took his chance brilliantly to slot home past De Gea, one nil to Morocco. Wow didnt expect that!
But order was restored after only five minutes, Isco scoring a nice goal from a brilliant pullback by Iniesta. Iniesta was on a different level for most of the first half, its a pity his team mates were away on another planet. Putting it on a plate for Costa to score, missed it, tsk.
But then Pique and Ramos again, fell asleep as Morocco took a quick throw in and Boutaïb was free in again, but unfortunately this time De Gea well saved.
First half finished one all, good game but a lot of tension in the air, and I was surprised to see later that no one was sent off.
Second half En-Nesyri scored with a bullit of a header to put Morocco ahead again, but just before the end Spain equalized when Iago Aspas slotted home in what looked like an offside position. VAR called in again, and the goal stood much to the chagrin of the Morocco team. Game ended a draw, but Morocco might find they were unlucky in this World Cup, in a tough group. If they were in another group they might have got to the last 16. Spain up against Russia next, should get to the last eight.
