Who is set to win the battle of the beers? ? V ? Unfortunately I couldn’t source any beer from either Ecuador or Honduras so this will be a dour 0-0 draw. But at least it gives me time to have some melted cheese and chips.

But I must mention the Montanita Brewery that tried their damnest to send me some alcohol, but it just didnt work out in the end. Check out their site to see that Ecuador does indeed have a beer history.

Twas a lovely bit of food alright, and a good break from all the beer I have guzzled the last few days. Put on about half a stone since this world cup started. That’s not good!

PreGame:

Ecuador:

Ecuador were a little unlucky in the first game against Switzerland but they seriously dipped in the second half.

The game tonight is a a must win for them, but they should do with ease. I saw enough in the game to imagine that Ecuador should come out on top in this battle against Honduras.

Honduras

Honduras were fairly rough in their first game against the French, lucky to escape with just the one red. Had no chance once their key player Palacios went off, for two silly yellow cards.He is suspended for tonight’s game, a big loss as he is arguably their best player.

If Honduras get a result tonight they have to look forward to Switzerland in the last game, maybe goal difference will make all the difference in the end.

Ecuador really need a win tonight, as they don’t want to be facing the French team looking for a draw/win. No chance of that. Get the win tonight minimum.

This will be a very short review as I was so tired for this game it was a real struggle to keep my eyes open. The world cup can be very draining on the old body. Late nights, beer and fast food, not good for your health. Just lucky my wife is off on a two week break, or it would be even more of a struggle!

Not that this game was boring, anything but. It was end to end stuff, both teams trying their best to win it. But unfortunately both teams are pretty limited in what they can do with the ball. The game was littered with errors. One wonders how Honduras managed to qualify for the world cup, considering all they seem to do is hack players. Still they scored a nice goal all the same. Enner Valencia scored both goals for Ecuador, good goal scoring ability, and his team did just enough to win the game.

Up next for Ecuador is France, a very daunting prospect. They need to match what Switzerland do against Honduras to qualify. That’s a tall order. I fear they might suffer against the French who should beat them easily.

Honduras will play Switzerland who they were responsible for knocking out of the last world cup, so it wouldn’t be out of the question for them getting a result in this match. It will be an interesting last day for sure.
