ThisDrinkingLife and The World Cup:Croatia
Croatia a team that seems to be a regular now in international competitions. They have made a habit of qualifying for competitions playing solid if not spectacular football along the way. They can score, and have a team full of attacking gems with Modric in the centre pulling the strings. But like all the teams in Group A, the defence might be very suspect.
For Croatia to get out of the group they really need all their players to pull together, a team effort might just see them get through. Can see their strikers causing all sorts of problems for the other teams in this group, particularity from set pieces. Arse then elbow, but in for a goal nevertheless, watch Nikica Jelavić do his worst, in a good type of way!
I might be the only person in the world that can see them get a result against Brazil in their first game, if they keep it tight, and have their forwards working flat out. But if not, then the final game against Mexico is the match that will decide if they get to enjoy another few days of Brazilian sunshine.
Key player is Luka Modric, at 28 should be hitting his prime now as a top player, with a lot of pressure on his shoulders but he has the skills and passing ability to help Croatia get the results they need to get into the second round.
