Colombia V Ivory Coast Fifa World Cup 2014
After match synopsis in red!!
Pregame bets:
Ivory Coast to win 27/10
Ivory Coast to win 2-1 11/1
Didn’t work, good game result could have gone either way, but with Drogba only coming on with about 20 minutes to go, bet had no chance

PreGame:
Colombia were great in the first half of their first game against the Greeks. They did wilt a bit in the early second, but thoroughly deserved to win the game, and made the Greeks look like a very very ordinary team. Will be very interesting to see how they get on today against the Ivory Coast.
And don’t forget their 12th man, the Colombian fans who were brilliant in the first game and definitely gave a huge lift to their team. More of the same today please.
Ivory Coast: Their first game was a little disappointing. Until Drogba came on they looked totally bereft of ideas and a win looked impossible. Even if Drogba didn’t play a part in their goals, his mere presence lifted the team. Hopefully the manager wont have him sitting on the bench today as IC need him, even if he is still not a 100% match fit.
Aurier had a decent first game, and was my man of the match, his two crosses resulted in two goals and his forward play caused Japan problems all day long. It will be interesting to see if the Colombian manager has his team lectured on how to stop Aurier’s marauding runs on the wing.
Today’s game has no clear favourite but whoever wins this match is in the next round. Surely that’s worth a major effort from both teams, so should be a good game. Here’s hoping.

Decent game of football from two teams looking for a win. Colombia got the win in the end but really had to hold for dear life as Ivory Coast really put on the pressure in the last twenty minutes or so.
Why so? Well Drobga and Kalou were on. The team instantly lifts when Drogs is on the pitch, and Kalou is a useful player with EPL experience. But the IC manager likes to start them on the bench and put them on when most of the game is gone. Doesn’t make much sense if you want to get out of the group.
Gervinho played well throughout down the wings and scored a cracking good goal and Didier Zokora was solid enough in the centre of defence for the Ivorian’s. Zokora will be missing for the final game against Greece as he picked up another yellow card. He will be missed as without him IC might struggle, but then again they are playing Greece next so they might be ok.
Where Ivory Coast were good was in attack, especially in the second half. Yaya Touré and Gervinho playing great balls into the forward line, and Aurier, who had a quite first half, was once again whipping killer balls from the right hand side for the last quarter of the game. They were a bit unlucky not to get the goal that they needed. But IC have only shown glimpses of what they can do, its not constant.
Colombia were also good on the break, and scored two nice goals. Well done to them on qualifying and they are a team I look forward to seeing in the second round, even if their goalkeeper, Ospina, looked a bit dodgy, a flapper.
Up next, for Colombia they can relax a little as they have done the hard work in the first two games. They are playing Japan, in a game that shouldn’t be a whole lot too taxing for them. Might be an opportunity to play some of their unused players, give them some good game time.
Ivory Coast have to play Greece in a game where if they win they are through to the second round. Also a draw might not be the worst result for them, depending on what Japan are doing against Colombia. Surely Drogba will get them going in this game.
