Brewed by Heineken Italia
Style: Pale Lager
Milano, Italy
Birra Moretti is an Italian brewing company, founded in Udine in 1859 by Luigi Moretti. In 1996 the company was acquired by Heineken International. The brewing plant in Udine was sold to the newly formed Birra Castello S.p.A.; Moretti is now a brand of Heineken.
Birra Moretti is a 4.6% abv pale beer produced using a traditional process that has remained almost unchanged since 1859. It is a low fermented beer that has a golden colour, the tone of which is given by the quality of malt used.
Review: Bottle of Birra Moretti European Pale Lager, 4.60%ABV
A respectable European pale lager that comes in a lovely looking bottle. The “Moretti” logo, of a traditional Italian countryman about to enjoy a big frothing glass of beer, stands out indicating that this beer is stylish and eager to be enjoyed.
Appearance is a pale, straw yellow colour that when poured produces a nice thick white head with good retention and with decent lacing. A fine-looking clear lager
The aroma has a rustic smell of lightly toasted barley, and some grassy hops, which gave a very pleasant and balanced smell.
The taste was crisp and clean. having a light honey and mild malt flavour with a fair hop bitter aftertaste at the end. This beer is easy to drink, a balanced and smooth taste that goes down well.
Moretti is a good lager that goes especially well with Italian food (naturally!).
