day 9 and 10 a 040

PreGame:

germanyGermany: I have just about calmed down from the last game as I was so disappointed with the cheating of Muller. I thought Germany left that kind of shenanigans behind them from the 90s, but no, it seems to be back again under that despicable character Low. Hopefully they don’t ruin the Ghana game today, as Ghana are a tough team and I am sure they will be sticking the boot in all game. Hopefully Muller wont end up in casualty, the poor soul.

ghanaGhana: The USA were very lucky to beat Ghana the other night. Ghana really deserved a point. A good game to watch with lots of drama and goal mouth action. Ghana had enough chances to even win the game, if they only had any decent strikers. Ghana had 21 shots towards goal with only three on target. That’s quite amazing. They wont get 21 shots today that’s for certain, as the German defence will be a good bit meaner than the Americans. Ghana’s best chance is to try and get a goal from a break or from a dead ball situation.

Will be a tight game in the first half, with a lot of fouling and frees, but might open up in the second half when the Germans start imposing their dominance.

Will be interesting to see how Kevin-Prince Boateng gets on considering he has mouthed off about how the German team doesn’t have any leaders on the pitch. Bit like Ghana then? Also the small matter of facing off against his brother Jerome on the German team.

A more detailed review on Germany here and on Ghana  here

Miroslav_Klose_Game of the World Cup so far, and one that will linger long in the memory. Fantastic football, box to box, and by the end of it both teams were exhausted. Credit to Ghana for giving it a right good go, especially after the Germans took the lead. They are a confident team and didn’t let their heads drop. They rallied and got back two quick goals to reverse the pressure onto the clearly shaken German team. So much so that Low had to do a double substitution and bring on Klose and Schweinsteiger, the big guns. Must give credit to Low here, as these players had an instant impact. Klose scored with his first touch to get the record, the all time top scorer in World Cup history (well shared with Ronaldo!).

A Gyan scored a cracking goal, but he can be such a frustrating player too watch. He was pretty wasteful up to that point, then he goes and scores a very well taken goal. But that’s the way African teams play in general. Jordan Ayew had a brilliant 3v1 situation, and tried to score a wonder goal, greedy ****. Then the situation with the offside when they had 3/4 V 1, what a joke! They will be kicking themselves on the plane home from Brazil knowing that they should have won this game. Ghana you were brilliant. Thanks. But………..

Philipp_LahmA few words about Germany. Lahm looks to be a fallen star. it was his mistake that lead to Ghana’s second goal and he also had a good chance himself to score which he ignored. But he also made a few mistakes in the first game that he got away with too. He looks like a player that isnt sure of where he is meant to be and whats his real role in the team. Will be interesting to observe him in the knockout stages of the competition where mistakes will be punished with haste. Khedira was a passenger too, but to be fair that’s his usual game with Germany.

Must mention Jonathan Mensah who threw his body on the line to save what looked like a certain goal by Muller. Heroic.

Was an excellent game that I didn’t want to stop. I would have gladly looked at another hour of that. Praise to both teams for a very entertaining game of football.

ghanaGhana have kept their chances of qualification for the last 16 alive, but they will have to beat Portugal in their final game to have a chance and hope that either the USA or Germany don’t get up to any funny business in the other game!

By the way, why is Low always picking his nose?
